Prayer for God's Blessing
on the
Future Development
of St. Agnes Home

O glorious St. Joseph, steadfast follower of Jesus Christ, we are confident that your prayers for us will be graciously heard at the throne of God. To you we lift up our heart and hands asking your powerful intercession to obtain from the compassionate Heart of Jesus the material and spiritual resources we need to continue the mission entrusted to the Carmelite Sisters, DCJ, to provide a home away from home. St. Joseph, by the love you bear for Jesus Christ, and for the glory of His Name, hear our prayers so that the Sisters may continue to provide the residents at St. Agnes Home a place where they can spend a quiet evening of life lighted up by peace and warmed by God's Love. Amen.

Incline Your ear, O Lord, to our prayers, in which we humbly entreat Your mercy. Bring to a place of peace and light the souls of our deceased Carmelite Sisters, DCJ, and bid them be numbered in the fellowship of the saints. Bless the good work You have begun in them, and help us to continue it at St. Agnes Home. Grant a favorable outcome to our desires to improve the living conditions for our residents here. We ask this in Your Name. Amen.

St Agnes Building Project Phase 1

December, 2006

The Day Care parking lot was completed right before the big winter ice
storm hit St. Louis.
Construction lay dormant for two weeks following the big storm.

Now that the snow is melted and plants are back up and running, construction is fast underway once again. Sewer pipes are being brought in for the new addition. Once the pipes are in place the new parking lot for St. Agnes Home will be laid.

HBD moves onto the site.  Tim Sheahan will be carefully overseeing the construction.  All four of his children attended our Carmelite Child Development Center.
Site Preparation
The new wing, which will have one floor of private and semi-private full care rooms and an upper floor with personal care (assisted living) apartments, is being constructed on our current parking lot.  The day care parking is being re-done to accommodate the new wing.

A new driveway, with parking along the sides, is being laid so as to connect the main front entrance with our Woodlawn Ave. entrance.  This new driveway/parking will replace and increase the number of parking places currently available.

Sadly, some trees have to come down to accommodate the new driveway/parking.  However, many of them have been found to be accidents waiting to happen – rotted from the inside out.  A conservation plan is being put in place to foster continued tree growth.

After a little pleading from the Sisters, the men agreed to delicately transplant our holly tree, even though it had been marked to be taken down.  A last minute save!

The shrine to Our Lady of Fatima has been dismantled and stored in a safe place until she takes up her new lodging in the soon-to-be-created courtyard.  There are many memories attached to the old place, but the shrine will receive more attention and devotion in the new location.

Work continues in preparing the site for the new driveway/parking place.

The curbs have been installed in the new daycare parking.  Next comes the gravel fill, and then the asphalt.  This new parking should be completed and in use by Tuesday, November 28.
